Privacy Policy
OBD2: Check Engine Reset is built to do its job without collecting personal information.
The short version
The app does not ask you to create an account, and it does not upload your vehicle data to us. Diagnostic information read from your car is used on the device to show you the result and is not transmitted to our servers.
Information the app handles
To do its work, the app communicates with an OBD2 adapter connected to your vehicle. That communication happens directly between your phone and the adapter over Bluetooth, Bluetooth Low Energy or a local Wi-Fi connection. Diagnostic results, including any trouble code reported by the vehicle, are shown on your device.
The app keeps a small technical log on the device to help diagnose connection problems with specific adapters and vehicles. This log stays on your phone. It is not uploaded automatically, and it is not shared with us unless you choose to send it while contacting support.
The app also remembers the last adapter you connected to so it can reconnect faster next time. That information is stored locally on your device and is removed when you uninstall the app.
Permissions
Bluetooth permission is required so the app can find and connect to your OBD2 adapter. On Android, the app requests the Bluetooth permissions introduced in Android 12 and deliberately does not request location access. Local network access is used only to reach a Wi-Fi OBD2 adapter on the network your phone is connected to.
This website
This website is a set of static pages. It does not set advertising cookies, and it does not include third-party tracking scripts. Our hosting provider processes standard server request information, such as IP address and user agent, to deliver the site and protect it from abuse.
Links to the Apple App Store and Google Play are provided so you can download the app. Those services have their own privacy policies, and any data you provide to them is governed by their terms rather than ours.
Children
The app and this website are intended for drivers and vehicle owners. They are not directed at children, and we do not knowingly collect information from children.
Changes
If this policy changes, the updated version will be published on this page with a new date. If a future version of the app introduces a feature that changes how data is handled, this policy will be updated before that feature ships.
